More Grots and VISs for the Polish Army

More Grots and VISs for the Polish Army 30.09.2019

On September 30th of this year, annexes to two contracts for the supply of small arms for the Polish Army were signed at the headquarters of Fabryka Broni “Łucznik” – Radom sp. z oo. Their purpose is to increase orders for MSBS GROT rifles and VIS 100 pistols. Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak was present at the official announcement of the decision.

The first of the annexes concerns the agreement of September 2017 for the supply of MSBS GROT rifles for Territorial Defence Forces. It allows the supply of 18,000 weapons. The order is to be completed between 2020-2022.

The second annex concerns the agreement of December 2018 for the supply of VIS 100 semi-automatic pistols. It gives Fabryka Broni the right to increase the number of VIS 100 pistols produced from approx. 1,300 to over 3,000 by the end of 2019.  In total, by 2022, Fabryka Broni will supply nearly 20,000 VIS 100 pistols to the Polish Armed Forces.

The signing of the agreements confirms the effectiveness of the Polish Armaments Group in providing the Armed Forces with the highest quality armaments. GROT rifles and VIS 100 pistols are world-class products. We are proud that Polish soldiers appreciate the quality of our equipment, which results in increasingly larger orders both at Fabryka Broni and other Group companies. This confirms the competence of our plants and the trust placed in us by the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland and the Ministry of National Defence – said Witold Słowik, President of the Board of the Polish Armaments Group.

President Słowik also emphasized that the presence of the “Grot” and the “Vis” on the equipment of the Polish Army significantly strengthens our position in proceedings for the supply of small arms systems to other countries interested in solutions offered by PGZ.

- We are glad that the Polish Army is buying our successive products. We know that they have a very good reputation among users. These are modern, effective and safe solutions, adapted to the current and future battlefield. Both MSBS GROT rifles and VIS 100 pistols are the answer of Fabryka Broni to the expectations and demand of the Polish Armed Forces – said Adam Suliga, President of the Board of Fabryka Broni “Łucznik”

The MSBS GROT rifle is a weapon developed by Fabryka Broni “Łucznik” - Radom and the Military University of Technology. In its class, it is a weapon unique in the world. The system allows the creation of various weapon configurations both in conventional and bullpup variants.

The modular design allows the creation of a number of design solutions based on the base elements, i.e. the barrel assembly, the receiver and the bolt carrier group, as well as for the rapid modification of the weapon by the end user depending on their needs. MSBS GROT is characterised by high ergonomics and full adaptation for right- and left-handed users. It is adapted to the modern and future battlefield.

The VIS 100 pistol is a new design manufactured at Fabryka Broni. The name is a reference to the wz. 35 VIS manufactured by Fabryka Broni between 1936-1939. The number 100 is a reference to the introduction of the weapon on the 100th anniversary of regaining independence. The pistol is the result of work carried out since 2013 on the design of the PR-15 and is one of the elements included in the Advanced Individual Warfare System (Zaawansowany Indywidualny System Walki), codename TYTAN.

Increasing the supply of weapons is possible thanks to the modernisation of the Fabryka Broni toolshop. Over the past two years, the company has bought and launched about 70 precision devices of the latest generation. Most of them are numerically controlled milling and turning centres.
