The first Service and Logistics Centre of Leopard tanks in Poland will operate in Wojskowe Zakłady Motoryzacyjne S.A. Centrum belonging to the PGZ Group. The centre will be designed to meet the needs of the Polish Armed Forces (PAF) in all areas necessary to keep Leopard 2A5 tanks in full technical condition.
The opening of SLC is an important stage not only in the development of Wojskowe Zakłady Motoryzacyjne S.A., but above all in strengthening the potential of the PGZ Group in the segment of armoured technology and handling of main battle tanks used by the PAF. The Centre is also a business venture and a showcase of the fruitful technological cooperation of WZM S.A. with foreign partners.
“Leopard 2 tanks are an important part of the equipment of the Polish land forces, and the Service and Logistics Centre is one of the elements which is to expand our capabilities to modernize and operate such equipment. We intend to use the competences gained in the course of SLC work in the field of tracked platforms in our future armoured projects, which PGZ is currently working on” said Sebastian Chwałek, Vice-President of the Management Board of PGZ S.A.
The investment includes: a hall specially dedicated to handling tanks, equipped with state-of-the-art specialised infrastructure, the Centre of Drive Units, Authorised Service Centre, Buffer Warehouse (spare parts and large stocks) and Specialist Training Centre, ensuring continuity of activities in the field of constantly securing the needs of the Polish Armed Forces.
Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa, guided by the principle of optimizing the use of its resources and, above all, securing the needs of the Polish Armed Forces, divided product competences without violating the principle of equal treatment of companies. Leopard 2A5 MBT and drive units for Leopard 2A4/2PL and 2A5 MBT belong to the competence of Wojskowe Zakłady Motoryzacyjne S.A., whereas Zakłady Mechaniczne Bumar Łabędy S.A. are responsible for Leopard 2A4/2PL tanks.
