Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa, together with the Ministry of National Defence, is participating in the Africa Aerospace and Defence Expo in South Africa held from 19 to 23 September. African markets are some of the most promising export directions for the Polish defence industry. This is yet another expo this year at which Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa is presenting its offering.
At this year’s Africa Aerospace and Defence (AAD) Expo the PGZ Group is promoting, among other things, soldier’s personal equipment, including firearms, ammunition, and logistics equipment. PGZ’s offering also includes maintenance and retrofit packages for the equipment based on Western technological thought.
Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa’s exhibition has been visited by, among other people, the secretary of state at the Nigerian Ministry of Defence, Mrs Nuratu Jimoh Batagarawa as well the CEO of DICON, division general Bamidele Olaleke Ogunkale. In March 2018 the “Łucznik” Arms Factory in Radom signed a memorandum with DICON - a Nigerian arms company on the transfer of technology pertaining to the production of the Beryl M762 assault rifles. Companies that form PGZ are also carrying out a number of projects related to establishing industrial co-operation with companies from other African countries.
Africa is one of the most export destinations for the Group. The Group’s projects pertain not only to the sale of new equipment, but also repairs and retrofitting of hardware of Soviet origin that can be found among the equipment of many armed forces and uniformed services on this continent. The Group is striving to repeat the success of signing the memorandum with DICON and establishing long-term industrial co-operation with regional partners with respect to the supply of ammunition and soldier’s personal equipment, among other things.
Africa Aerospace & Defence, a biannual expo held by South Africa, is the largest defence industry event combined with an airshow held on the African continent. AAD is a meeting place for representatives of the aviation and arms industries with potential buyers. The expo attracts government delegations from all over Africa, and also the representatives of local armed forces, uniformed services, and companies interested in establishing industrial co-operation and expanding their activities beyond Africa.
